Our Projects

The Sergeant Rodney M. Davis, USMC (Medal of Honor) Memorial Scholarship

Managed and administered by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia (CFCG), the Sgt. Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund was launched on November 10, 2013, with the award of $25,000 to the CFCG by the 1/5 Vietnam Veterans Association. As of this date, the current fund balance stands at over $250,000 and continues to grow. The CFCG is a member of a nationwide network of Community Foundations, and is a 501 (C)(3) non-profit corporation based in Macon, GA.

Each year, the Sgt. Davis Memorial Scholarship Fund benefits the most deserving high school student(s) serving in 1 of 6 Jr. ROTC Detachments in Bibb County Schools, located in Macon, GA. The award is a $1,500 Scholarship, which is renewable for up to four (4) years, based on that student achieving a minimum of 3.0 GPA each year and maintaining other minimum standards.

We also wholeheartedly support the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and their wonderful work providing affordable education for the children of U. S. Marines and U. S. Navy Corpsmen. As our Event Sponsor, the MCSF will be receiving a donation, in the amount of 75% of net proceeds, from this, our 6th Annual Sergeant James Dougherty Sporting Clays Championship Shoot. The balance goes to the Rodney Davis (MOH) scholarship.
